The National Association of Regional Game Councils (NARGC) condemns in the strongest possible terms, the unlawful dumping of deer carcasses in Co. Wicklow, which has been reported in today’s media.
The pictures emanating from the scene of this unlawful disposal, defy logic and the sanity of the perpetrator/s who engaged in this practice, clearly with such reckless intent, has to be seriously questioned. The NARGC calls on the NPWS, An Garda Siochana and the other authorities involved, to bring to justice those concerned so that the rigors of the law may be justifiably applied. No species of wildlife should be treated in this way or in any way that is contrary to law.
The NARGC joins in the sentiments of other Organisations which, like ourselves, have expressed equal dismay and annoyance.
Speaking on behalf of the NARGC, National Chairman, Mr. Michael Fenlon, who himself is from Co. Wicklow, described this incident as “an act of willful slaughter and gross callousness, which cannot go unpunished and which smacks in the face of every decent and law-abiding hunter in the State”. He further stated that “an incident like this is an affront to the lawful sport of shooting and hunting and the NARGC will assist the authorities in any way it can in bringing those responsible to justice”.
